Lucas and Jawad. The next generation of superheros keeping the world safe for another day.
This was taken today. March 27th. it's still snowing.

Lucas had the day off school ( Noah didn't) and I let him choose how we spent the day. We went cross country skiing for almost 3 hours before having pizza for lunch. The day was fabulous.

ME!

A friend from our school has a place out in Jackson Hole and took a few women with her skiing for a long weekend a few weeks ago - it was FABULOUS!!!!

teaching Noah the art of the selfie

Aspen loves the cold and the snow

we have lots of snow.

lots and lots.

our snowmen, not unlike our Christmas trees, always seem to tip over. These guys lasted a day.

Pipes under the street leading to our school froze the other week. School was cancelled for an entire week. Luckily, it happened to be a week when temps hovered around 20 -30 so we played outside all week.

The boys dug a great tunnel from the shovel pile.

A happy day sledding at the park

Lucas's friend Asha joined us for the day.

Aspen on her weekly walk with Mavis, my good friend Laura's dog. Mavis is a spry 5 years but is more than happy to hang at Aspen's pace which is more of a mosey than a sprint these days.

the best winter weekend in MN

Loppet xc ski weekend extravaganza - races, bike races, xc skiing with your dog races, snow sculptures, kids carnival, 1200 ice candles around Lake of the Isles Saturday night...we are so lucky to live here. Boys were in their first xc ski race and they are hooked.  I love all the hardy folk around here that get out and celebrate. Granted many Minnesotans never spend more time outside in the winter than it takes to walk from your car to your house, but this weekend we got to watch thousands of Minnesotans ski race right in front of our house.

Our friends Dave and Betsy came with us on the moonight event this year to see if they could warm up to the idea of playing outside in winter. They had fun but wanted to go inside even before the boys did!

and these last 3 pics are from when the superbowl started and I spent a few hours snowshoeing. Look close at the picture above! It was a stunning sunset. I love love love winter.
